Almost There: Toronto On Cusp of GLBL Championship Triumph After 1-0 Win
|
Shannon Freake pitched a gem to help the Toronto Maples escape with a tight 1-0 victory over the Detroit Thunderbirds in a low-scoring GLBL Championship contest today. The right-handed Freake threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Maples on a day when their offense dried up. Toronto now leads the best-of-7 series 3-1.
Freake, who was born in Markham, Canada, threw 110 pitches over 8 innings, while allowing no runs.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Freake.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thunderbirds Ballpark in Detroit.
