Detroit Win to Pull Even With Toronto
The Detroit Thunderbirds and the Toronto Maples will take the GLBL Championship to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Thunderbirds beat the Maples 6-2 at Ontario Ballpark to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Detroit right-hander Ralph Baxter had a big role in the win. He threw 8.2 innings of 6-hit ball.

Detroit used the bat of Dave Steele to capture the win. The catcher jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Detroit manager Michael Vallery.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ontario Ballpark in Toronto.
