Maples Clip Caribou 3-2 in LC Contest
The Toronto Maples faced a challenging opponent in Thunder Bay Caribou right-hander Yakumo Hasegawa, but did just enough to squeak out a 3-2 win in Game 3 of the League Championship today. Toronto now leads 2-1 in the best-of-7 series. The Maples won despite the Caribou getting an excellent start from starter Hasegawa, who allowed 2 runs and scattered 5 hits over 7.1 innings.

Toronto needed the clutch hitting of Tadakuni Nishi to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Maples on top, 3-2. For the game, Nishi had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Nishi said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Caribou Field in Thunder Bay.
