Architects Slip Past Toronto, 5-4
|
The Chicago Architects took Toronto pitcher Shannon Freake's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ontario Ballpark. The final score had Chicago getting past the Maples, 5-4. Freake went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 4. The Architects, now 15-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Chicago used the clutch hitting of Earl Stretton to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Architects ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
In postgame comments, Stretton said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
