Thunderbirds Stick Neptunes with 4-1 Loss

Detroit and Toledo duked it out and the Thunderbirds came out victorious.
Detroit rode a fine outing from starter Pierre Maurin to victory over the Toledo Neptunes at Thunderbirds Ballpark. The final score was 4-1. The winning pitcher was Maurin, now 1-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 3. Getting the save was Val Imbert, his 5th.
The Thunderbirds got a big at-bat from right fielder Stan Gillis. For the game, Gillis was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Detroit a 3-1 lead.
"Nice win for us," said Gillis. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The win puts Detroit at 9-13.
