The Hamilton Mounties topped the Owen Sound Waveriders, 4-3, with first baseman Tom Corson playing a big role. Corson went 3-4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times for the Mounties in the win. Juan Sánchez got the save, the 5th for him this season. Hamilton, now 9-15, is off to a slow start.
Had Sterling Morin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Morin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Mounties.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Owen Sound manager John Meeker. "But we decided not to take it."
