Neptunes Stymie Traverse City, Take 3-1 Win
|
The Toledo Neptunes went home winners at Ballpark of Toledo, thanks in large part to starter Eduardo Gómez. Gómez stifled the Traverse City Bears, enabling Toledo to grab the 3-1 win. Gómez got the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Gómez allowed 1 run. Fernando Flores was called on to finish, recording his 10th save.
José Calderón made an early impact for Toledo when he stroked his 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came with two out in the bottom of the third, put the Neptunes on top, 3-0.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Gómez told the Toledo Citizen. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
Toledo has now won 3 in a row.
