Caribou Fall Short at Kingston, 6-5
|
The Kingston Comets defeated the Thunder Bay Caribou, 6-5. Center Fielder Paul Jackson deserved a large share of the credit. Jackson was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Comets. Luis Deleón picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Nick Tate suffered the loss. The Comets move to 17-23 with the win, while the Caribou drop to 17-23.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Jackson hit a fastball from Nick Tate for a run-scoring double. The Comets, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Jackson, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
