Waveriders Lose to Maples, 7-4
|
Toronto and Owen Sound duked it out and the Maples came out victorious.
Owen Sound left fielder Josselin Leroy was sensational. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Toronto beat the Waveriders, 7-4. The winning pitcher was Augusto González. He tossed 96 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits.
Scott Robertson dealt the Waveriders a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Toronto leading 1-0, Robertson, who won the Lake Huron Rookie Award in 2041, hit a 1-2 sinker for a 2-run double.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Robertson told a Toronto Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
Owen Sound falls to 4-5.
