Bears Suffer 8-6 Road Loss
Detroit right fielder Stan Gillis played a vital role in his team's 8-6 conquest of Traverse City. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Detroit. Brian Miller, the winning pitcher, is now 3-4. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2. The save was credited to Paul Wooldridge, his 15th.

The Thunderbirds got a big hit from shortstop Larry Thomson. In the bottom of the sixth, Thomson smacked a 2-run double off Traverse City pitcher Kevin McAskill. It was his 6th double of the season. Suddenly, the Thunderbirds were ahead, 3-2.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Gillis.

With the win, the Thunderbirds sit at 24-20.
