Caribou Earn 5-4 Win Versus Maples
The Thunder Bay Caribou weathered a fine game by Toronto left fielder Mark Ekdar to upend the Maples, 5-4, at Ontario Ballpark. Ekdar went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Thunder Bay reliever Dorian May, now 2-1. The loser was Hervé Smart. Bob Harris finished to wrap up his 6th save.

Tim Rea, the 25-year old third baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Rea contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Thunder Bay up, 5-4.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Toronto manager Linus Riverboat. "But we decided not to take it."

The win for the Caribou raised their record to 26-19.
