Late Rally by Comets Secures 7-6 Win
|
The Toronto Maples got a superb performance from third baseman Gerald Powers, but the Kingston Comets still won the game, 7-6. Powers was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. António Valle closed the door for Kingston, picking up his 4th save of the year. The Comets raised their record to 23-30.
Kingston took a 7-6 lead on Bill Balcom's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Balcom hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Toronto pitcher Orlando Méndez visibly frustrated.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Balcom.
