Comets Clip Maples, 2-1
|
The Kingston Comets faced a tough opponent in Toronto pitcher Steffen Brooks, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Comet Field by a final score of 2-1. Brooks went 8 innings and allowed no runs. The win puts the Comets at 25-34, while the Maples drop to 30-29.
Esteban Chapa was the walk-off hero for Kingston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Comets center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Toronto manager Linus Riverboat, "let me know."
