Led by Marcel Lapeyre, the Detroit Thunderbirds defeated the Milwaukee Eagles, 5-4. Lapeyre went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Thunderbirds. The winner in relief was Vincent Blanchet. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-2. Detroit is now 38-45.

The decisive blow was delivered by Stan Gillis in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Donald Hubbard to win the game for Detroit. The home crowd went nuts.

"We didn't let this one get away," said Gillis.
