Caribou Need Extra Innings to Top Vigilantes, 2-1
|
Windsor wasted a solid 6.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Jason Sweeney, losing to Thunder Bay, 2-1, at Caribou Field. The winner in relief was Al Pellerin. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 3-2. The second-place Caribou have won 4 straight.
Thunder Bay won the game in the bottom of the 14th inning. With no outs and Joe Cain on the mound for Windsor, first baseman Wade Hepburn hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Caribou fans to their feet.
"This was a tough loss," said Windsor manager Greg Erbisch. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
