Gómez Slugs Neptunes to 7-1 Win
The Toledo Neptunes beat the Detroit Thunderbirds, 7-1, with major props going to center fielder José Gómez. On the day, Gómez slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Neptunes. Toledo pitcher Dwayne Miller got the win. He's now 11-3. Noriyuki Sakuma was tagged with the loss. Toledo raised its record to 65-55 with the win.

The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth. That's when Gómez hit a 2-run home run off Noriyuki Sakuma. It propelled the Neptunes into the lead, 3-1.

"I like our mindset right now," said Toledo manager Bill Atteberry.
