Caribou Popped by Maples, 6-0
|
Spirited fans greeted the Thunder Bay Caribou for their clash with the Toronto Maples.
Ed Hale pitched a gem to lead Toronto to victory over the Thunder Bay Caribou, 6-0. In 5.1 innings, Hale surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed no runs.
Marv Chacón drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Toronto. The 28-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Yakumo Hasegawa. It was his 40th walk of the season.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Chacón told the Toronto Gazette.
The win lifted the Toronto record to 65-59.
