Neptunes Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Eagles, 7-4
|
The Toledo Neptunes beat the Milwaukee Eagles by a score of 7-4. Toledo left fielder Didier Clément deserved the lion's share of the credit. Clément was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Neptunes. Toledo reliever Simon Olivier picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Didier Charles was saddled with the loss. Luke Mews picked up the save, his 5th.
Derek Davis came through with a big-time hit for Toledo. The center fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 7-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Clément.
The Eagles, now 3-10, continue their inauspicious start.
