Raucous Gila River Stadium Crowd Propels Scorpions to 5-1 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
The Phoenix Scorpions and the Pine Bluff Lions will take the Wild Card Series to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Scorpions beat the Lions 5-1 at Gila River Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Phoenix right-hander Bob Klein had a big role in the win. He threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 runs.
With no one out in the bottom of the fifth, Larry Devers put Phoenix in front, 2-1, with a run-scoring single. The Scorpions went on to win the ballgame.
Klein called the win "a team effort."
Game 5 is scheduled for Monday at Lions Den in Pine Bluff.
