At Motor City Grounds today, he made his case to be considered among that group. The 38-year-old second baseman hammered 5 hits in 5 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Milwaukee Hogs fell, 5-2, to the Detroit Devils. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Devils manager JT Bruett told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Evers wasn't the difference." Johnny Evers singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
