The skies opened up and the rain fell at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

The Clinton LumberKings racked up a win at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, bumping off the Kane County Cougars, 2-1. Kevin McCauley, who started for Clinton, pitched effectively for his team. The LumberKings lead the Western Division by 4½ games.

It could have been a different outcome for Clinton, had it not been for Jim Marks, the 25-year old catcher . Marks contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the seventh inning to put Clinton up, 2-1.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Kane County manager Tim Lincecum.
