The home crowd had a good time watching the Dayton Dragons and Great Lakes Loons get after it.

The Dayton Dragons got a superb performance from pitcher Luis Escobar. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Great Lakes. The Loons won the game, 6-3. Escobar came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters. Nesty Vargaz snagged the win in relief. In 3.1 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 1-2 on the season.

Rodolfo Valadez was a prime factor in the win for the Loons. In the bottom of the fifth with two out, the 23-year old shortstop hit a run-scoring single. He was 1-4.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Valadez told the Great Lakes Herald.

Great Lakes's record now stands at 76-61, placing them third in the Eastern Division.
