Braves Get Clonked by RiverDogs, 5-1
|
The Charleston RiverDogs got a strong performance from pitcher Steve Derrick, who stymied the Rome offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The win was credited to Steve King in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Sam Nolin took the loss. With the win, Charleston goes to 22-26, while the Braves fall to 31-17.
In the bottom of the seventh, Charleston center fielder Luis Salinas hit a run-scoring single to right field. The clutch hit made it, 2-1, RiverDogs.
"I want us to get on a roll," said Derrick. "It'll happen when everyone's committed to the cause."
