Charleston Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Charleston RiverDogs had to overcome a good performance from Hickory pitcher Mike Clark to claim a 3-2 win at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Clark went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs. Charleston reliever Whitney Snelgrove picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jeff Bender suffered the loss. The RiverDogs have now won 4 straight.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Charleston trailing 2-0, Eli Marchan jumped on a 2-2 slider from Jeff Bender for a 3-run home run, sending the RiverDogs to a walk-off win.
"That's baseball," said Hickory manager J.D. Hammer. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
