Drive McCully Smacks 5 Hits
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Steve McCully, it came around today.

The 22-year-old right fielder scattered hits all over Spirit Communications Park to pace the Greenville Drive to a 6-1 victory over the Columbia Fireflies.

Columbia skipper Marcus Stroman told reporters in the press room that "McCully deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, McCully hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Steve McCully hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.

Presently McCully is batting .302 with 10 home runs and 66 RBIs. He has played in 91 games and scored 57 times.
