Doubledays Win Thriller, 3-2
|
The Auburn Doubledays walked off with a big win.
The Lowell Spinners got a sterling performance from pitcher Camden Frude, but the Auburn Doubledays still prevailed, 3-2. Frude threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Auburn reliever Alfredo Prado was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Chris Waters.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Auburn pinch hitter Chris Matthews, facing Chris Waters, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Doubledays the 3-2 win.
"What an ending!" said a jubilant Matthews.
Auburn is now 26-16, while Lowell is 19-23.
