Doubledays Win in Glorious Fashion, 7-6
|
Ernie Martin was a major contributor to the 7-6 Auburn win over West Virginia. The Doubledays first baseman was 3 for 6 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Auburn reliever Ctirad Jaros, now 3-2. The loser was Ricky Gibbs. The Doubledays sport a record of 40-22.
Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the 14th inning, Auburn shortstop Chris Albuja had a chance to be the hero. Facing West Virginia pitcher Ricky Gibbs with the bases loaded, Albuja got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run.
"This place was rockin'," Albuja said.
