The Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cleveland Guardians, 9-3, at Progressive Field. The win was due in part to center fielder Rogelio Castillo, who went 2-2 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Mike Daniel picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-2 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 6 in 7 innings, while yielding 2 runs. The American League Central Division-leading Pirates are 29-16.

With Pittsburgh leading 3-2 in the top of the fourth, Castillo hit a knuckleball from Amari Gadison for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 5-2.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Cleveland manager .
