Tigers Win Nail-Biter
The Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays went down to defeat to Johnny Means and his Detroit (GCL) teammates. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Tigers. The first-place Tigers raised their record to 36-7.

Detroit (GCL) used the timely hitting of Jorge Lievano to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Tigers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Lievano expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
