Raucous Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium Crowd Propels Tigers to 4-2 Victory; Series Tied at 2

The Connecticut Tigers and the Vermont Lake Monsters will take the Round 1 to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Tigers beat the Lake Monsters 4-2 at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Connecticut right-hander Robby Magloire had a big role in the win. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball.
Had Vince Richardson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Richardson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Tigers.
Richardson attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at Centennial Field in Burlington.
