Road Win Lifts Rancho Cucamonga to 3-2 Lead in R1
|
Game 5 was big. So was Alan Brown.
The Rancho Cucamonga starter rose to the occasion at Phoenix Ballpark today, leading the Quakes to a crucial 3-2 victory over the Las Vegas Phoenix. Brown threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball as the Quakes won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Round 1.
Rancho Cucamonga used the clutch hitting of Jorge Melchon to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Quakes the lead, 2-1. For the game, Melchon had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Las Vegas manager Jim Burns.
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 19th , 2037 at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga.
