Marlins Take Tight Tilt, 2-1
|
Mike Levinson never let Detroit get something going. The Miami right-hander commanded his cutter in pitching the Marlins to a 2-1 win. Brad Thompson, credited with the win in relief, is now 6-3. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. With this game in the books, Miami is 39-45, Detroit 36-47.
Miami got a knockout punch from Jimmy Harrold. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Nice, tidy little win," Levinson said after the game.
