Rangers Sunk by Red Sox
|
The Boston Red Sox topped the Texas Rangers, 8-5, with shortstop Jeremy Jacobs playing a big role. Jacobs went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs for the Red Sox in the win. Boston reliever Jon Conley snagged the win, upping his record to 3-3. Chris Turner shouldered the loss. Joe Carver, credited with the save, is now 3 for 8 in save opportunities.
Amari Yonas's at-bat in the bottom of the third inning was a big one for Boston. Coming to bat with no one out, the bases loaded and Boston trailing 1-0, the third baseman reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Yonas.
The Red Sox improved to 66-85.
