The Buffalo Bisons beat the Syracuse Mets, 5-3, at Coca-Cola Field. Ken Ashcroft went 2-4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The 23-year old right fielder was a menace to Syracuse all day. The save was Wiel Wekema's, his 1st. The win gives the Bisons a record of 18-37.

The Bisons took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Facing Syracuse hurler Nate Barney with one out, Ashcroft hit a grand slam home run.

Ashcroft told a Buffalo Times reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
