Sheffield Helps Rainiers Beat Baby Cakes, 6-2
The Tacoma Rainiers beat the New Orleans Baby Cakes, 6-2, at Cheney Stadium. The Rainiers got a fine performance from center fielder Andy Sheffield, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Tacoma now has a record of 36-27 with the win.

The Rainiers got a big at-bat from first baseman Luis Vega. For the game, Vega went 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Tacoma a 1-0 lead.
