Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Hartford Yard Goats got the win.

The Hartford Yard Goats called upon starter Rodolfo Prieto, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 4-2. Prieto, the winner, moves to 7-3. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks. Jimmy Holmes saved it for Hartford.

One of the stars of the game was Hartford first baseman Jim Evans. In the bottom of the seventh with two out, he got a splitter from Pat Sandquist and hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-1 in favor of the Yard Goats.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Hartford skipper Daniel Stange.

With the win, Hartford raised its record to 29-25.
