Pete Fishback impressed in the 4-3 Syracuse win over Columbus. Fishback slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Joel Vaughn picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-10. He struck out 5 in 7.1 innings. The Mets saw their record improve to 60-58.

Syracuse took a 4-0 lead on Fishback's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Marv Young in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Syracuse to the win.

"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Fishback. "I think we showed that here."
