Portera Lifts Flying Squirrels to 7-6 Win
In the 7-6 Richmond win over Erie, the impact of Jon Portera was substantial. Portera was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Danny Giese snagged the win in relief. In 2.1 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits. He's now 2-5 on the season. Rogelio Barcia collected save number 10.

Portera had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-2 fastball from Sergio Castorena, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Flying Squirrels a 7-6 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Portera.

"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Portera.

Richmond now owns a record of 35-49.
