Fightin Phils Stick Fisher Cats with 3-2 Loss
Phil Hiegel pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, despite Hiegel's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Reading Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium. Chris Scoggin earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. Jim Conrad closed the door for Reading, picking up his 20th save of the year.

Chris Kelly contributed to the Fightin Phils cause with a productive at-bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a run-scoring double, giving Reading the lead.

"That's baseball," said New Hampshire manager Michael Schlact. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."

Reading now sits in last place in the Eastern Division at 42-80.
