Conditions were not ideal but Kansas City and Texas were able to put their game in the books.

The timely hitting of Gene Achord helped the Kansas City Royals down the Texas Rangers, 11-4. Achord was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Royals. The Royals win now puts them at 99-63.

Kansas City used a clutch at-bat from Bret English to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Royals ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Kansas City manager Felipe Vazquez.
