The Amarillo Sod Poodles bested the Midland RockHounds by a score of 5-4, with first baseman Alfredo Marrero getting the main credit. On the day, Marrero went 3-3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Sod Poodles. Amarillo reliever Chris Thorstad picked up the win to move to 2-0. Jorge Rojas suffered the loss. Juan Maldonado earned the save for Amarillo, his 4th of the year.

In the bottom of the eighth, Amarillo catcher Tim Paul stroked a run-scoring double to left field. The clutch hit put the Sod Poodles in front, 5-4.

Paul said afterward that he was glad to help his team win.
