The Salem Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Fayetteville pitcher Andy Weichert, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Fayetteville Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Weichert went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Omarion Lamin earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Losses have been few and far between for the Woodpeckers so far this season. Their record drops to 16-6.

Salem used the timely hitting of Amari Yonas to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Red Sox on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was a good effort all around," said Yonas.
