The Potomac Nationals turned back the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 6-5, at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. Randy Riley, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Chris Gumbiner, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-2. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Getting the save was Kevin Broadwater, his 1st.

Potomac used the timely hitting of Juan Quijas to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nationals on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I like the roll we're on right now," said Riley after the game.

Wilmington is now 18-8.
