McFarren Brings A-Game, Hillcats Beat Wood Ducks
The Lynchburg Hillcats topped the Down East Wood Ducks, 3-1, in Carolina League action at Calvin Falwell Field. The standout performance belonged to Lynchburg pitcher and Scott Lake, Florida, native Jerry McFarren. Wilfredo Escalante collected his 2nd save. The Wood Ducks fall to 10-16 and continue to sputter in the early going.

McFarren's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 7 strikeouts in 8 innings while allowing 6 hits. McFarren goes to 1-0 on the year with 9 strikeouts.

McFarren said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
