Blue Rocks Squelch Hillcats Offense in Shutout Win
Wilmington used a superb performance from starting pitcher Joe Hughes to down the Lynchburg Hillcats, 4-0. Hughes went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-5. Dane Mizak, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.

The tide might have turned in the top of the fourth, had not Joe Hughes made a big pitch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Hillcats trailing 3-0, he retired Dwain Chiasson when the Lynchburg catcher struck out.

Wilmington now has a record of 58-24 with the win.
