Floundering Pelicans Lose 7th Straight

Salem starter Arturo Leal had a strong outing against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Jimmy Hurst sewed up the save, his 2nd. Salem now has a record of 61-51 with the win.
Ignacio Silva's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was critical. The Salem shortstop hit a 2-run single, to put his team on top, 4-2. Runs were at a premium and this one was huge.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Myrtle Beach manager Darick Hall. "But we decided not to take it."
