Woodpeckers Turn Back Blue Rocks, 6-4
|
The Wilmington Blue Rocks got a superb performance from pitcher Jimmy Pierce, but the Fayetteville Woodpeckers still won the game, 6-4. Pierce threw 5.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Juan Serrano earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. His record is now 4-1. Fayetteville raised its record to 86-48 with the win.
Kevin Keeney helped the cause in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His at-bat contributed to the Fayetteville win.
"Winning is contagious," said Keeney. "We're looking forward to the next game."
