Pelicans Suffer 8-6 Setback
The Lynchburg Hillcats weathered a fine game by Myrtle Beach center fielder Sergio Baca to upend the Pelicans, 8-6, at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Baca was 4-5 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Alfredo Vital earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record is now 4-2. Wilfredo Escalante earned his 33rd save in 37 chances.

The outcome turned when Josh Chitwood came to bat in the top of the ninth. With two out and a runner on 2nd, the Lynchburg first baseman hit a run-scoring double. It gave his team the lead and helped them secure the win.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Chitwood, "but we got it done."

The last-place Hillcats lifted their record to 59-78.
