The Salem Red Sox topped the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 5-4, in Carolina League action at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Salem pitcher Yannis Bouvet. Salem reliever Jonathan Strock picked up the win, upping his record to 3-5. Alfredo Bermea absorbed the loss. The last-place Pelicans have dropped 4 straight games.

Salem took a 5-4 lead on Ignacio Silva's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Silva hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Myrtle Beach pitcher Chris Vota visibly frustrated.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Bouvet told the Salem News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
