With Late Score, Cardinals Beat Athletics
|
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Sacramento Athletics in 10 innings, 5-4, in part because of right fielder Jordan Walker. Walker was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Cardinals. The Cardinals with just their 5th win in 17 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Lars Nootbaar drove in one run for St. Louis. The 27-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Kyle Funkhouser. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
"Exciting game to play in," said Walker. "Getting the win makes it even better."
